The exhibit is open to the public August 18 through September 26\, 2025\, with an Opening Reception on Friday\, August 22\, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM in the Willson Exhibit Room and Hallway Gallery at The Arts Center. The Tennessee Watercolor Society (TnWS) is the largest and most respected organization in Tennessee dedicated to the exploration and advocacy of water media. Revered Athenian artists\, such as Betty Grater and Frances Graves\, have long been represented in the prestigious society as painters\, signature members\, and even past officers. TnWS also boasts local members such as AACA’s beloved watercolor instructor\, Sandy Brown.&nbsp\;It was Brown\, a signature member of TnWS\, who made the exhibit proposal on behalf of the society. She was approached by Chattanooga and Knoxville chapter coordinators\, Marie Spaeder Hass and Jean Porter\, who wanted an inter-chapter exhibition somewhere between the two cities. Brown immediately thought of The Arts Center in Athens as the perfect venue for the show.“The Arts Center has had the honor of hosting the TnWS for a couple years now\,” says Holly Doucette\, AACA Program Director\, “The members consistently put on a beautiful show that is always much anticipated and well received. This year you can expect a variety of watercolor techniques on display by some of Tennessee's most renowned artists in this medium.”The exhibition includes active\, associate\, and signature members from the Eastern Tennessee chapters of the society. Members Mary Ahern\, Claudia Balthrop\, Linda Blair\, David Barber\, Nancy Chinchor\, Donna Cronce\, Mary Dougherty\, Jean Ferguson\, Faye Ives\, Barbara Jernigan\, Judy Jorden\, Carol Robin King\, David Kramer\, Cheryl Massey\, Lynne Mayer\, Susan Miller\, Holly P. Peck\, and Elizabeth Wright bring new work that hasn’t been shown in a previous TnWS exhibit.
