PIEDMONT LITHIUM TO ESTABLISH OPERATIONS AT NORTH ETOWAH INDUSTRIAL PARK IN MCMINN COUNTY

Etowah, Tennessee – Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, along with McMinn  County Economic Development Authority, announced today Piedmont Lithium will invest over $582 million and create 117 direct jobs in Etowah, Tennessee. 

The Tennessee Lithium project is the first of its kind in the United States. Piedmont Lithium is a producer of lithium hydroxide, a critical component in the electric vehicle and battery storage markets. This project will support energy security in the United States. The Tennessee Lithium Project will utilize more environmentally responsible and economic processing technology. 

“We are thrilled to have Piedmont Lithium locate their new chemical plant in McMinn County. Building on our existing automotives cluster, Piedmont is the catalyst to launch McMinn County into the EV arena and help diversify our industrial base. We are always looking for high-quality, well-paying jobs to bring to the county.  Piedmont Lithium stands to do just that. McMinn County looks forward to forging a long-standing partnership.
