Meet Employers Looking to Hire at the McMinn County Job Fair

News, Articles

Anyone looking for a new career can attend the McMinn County Job Fair on Thursday, August 13, at the Athens Regional Park Conference Center at 122 Regional Park Drive. The fair runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and will feature dozens of employers from across the county. Last year, more than 35 companies participated in this event.

“We want McMinn County residents to find work closer to home,” says Lindsey Ferguson, Executive Director of the McMinn County Economic Development Agency (EDA). “This event connects job seekers with companies offering shorter commutes, opportunities for skill building, and the potential for lasting careers.”

The job fair allows candidates to stand out with face-to-face meetings with companies that are actively hiring. Employers benefit by filling positions faster, while candidates can get to know their employers before working for them.

Participating Employers Come from Diverse Industries

Many job opportunities at the McMinn County Job Fair will be manufacturing-focused, but there is something for everyone, and opportunities for people at different skill levels. A few available roles that companies are hiring for include:

  • Knitters and Knitting Technicians
  • Assemblers, Inspectors, Material Handlers
  • Machine Operators and Welders
  • Electricians and Maintenance Technicians
  • Production Operators & Leads
  • Clerical and Administrative Roles
  • Customer Service & Retail (Cashiers, Stockers, Management)
  • Project Management and Engineering
  • CDL Drivers and General Labor
  • Janitorial Positions

Participating employers include:

  • MidLab
  • Panel Built Inc.
  • Maxwell Industries
  • Erosion Solutions
  • Del Conca USA
  • Mars Snacking
  • Crescent Sock Company
  • Grocery Outlet/Bargain Barn

The EDA is still accepting employers for the Job Fair, so this list will grow as the August 13 event gets closer.

Bring Resume Copies to Give to Employers

If you are planning to attend the job fair, dress professionally – as if you were scheduled for an interview – and bring printed copies of your resume. While this is an informal event, you can make a positive first impression on hiring teams and directly showcase your experience and skills. You can also review this list of common interview questions and practice some answers in case you are asked about your work history or career goals.

“We see a lot of success at this event for both employers and job seekers,” says Ferguson. “It’s a chance for people to get noticed instead of sending out resumes online, and companies can evaluate candidates before scheduling formal interviews, saving everyone time.”

The job fair is also intentionally scheduled in August after kids return to school, so parents don’t have to worry about finding childcare to attend.
